11 April
was International Earth Day (día internaciónal de la
pachamama) an annual event marked across the world to show support for
environmental protection and End Plastic Pollution. The first
Earth Day took place in 1970 and is now celebrated worldwide in over 192 countries, including Peru.

Cusco Vibes is extremely conscious on the heavy impact that
plastic waste has on our environment, natural water sources, and animal and
plant life. We believe that we all have our part to play in protecting and
conserving our precious ecosystems; in educating and informing ourselves on the
issues at hand; and sharing our knowledge, lessons learnt and experiences with

Cusco Vibes
on Earth Day

On International Earth day Cusco Vibes joined Piuray Outdoor
Center to help clean Piuray lake. On standup paddleboards and kayaks we navigated
our way around in the search of plastic waste. Piuray lake is pretty clean in
general, however we were still able to collect several bags of rubbish, many of which
was hidden in the high grass located on the banks of the lake, including plastic
bottles & bags, takeaway drink & food containers, chocolate wrappers and even shoes.

We have a long way to go, but little by little we can make a
difference and still have fun in the process! To get you started, below are 9 great tips for reducing the amount of plastic we use, which we can all do on a daily basis!
